GospelMk 10:17-27

As Jesus was setting out on a journey, a man ran up,
knelt down before him, and asked him,
“Good teacher, what must I do to inherit eternal life?”
Jesus answered him, “Why do you call me good?
No one is good but God alone.
You know the commandments: You shall not kill;
you shall not commit adultery;
you shall not steal;
you shall not bear false witness;
you shall not defraud;
honor your father and your mother.”
He replied and said to him,
“Teacher, all of these I have observed from my youth.”
Jesus, looking at him, loved him and said to him,
“You are lacking in one thing.
Go, sell what you have, and give to the poor
and you will have treasure in heaven; then come, follow me.”
At that statement, his face fell,
and he went away sad, for he had many possessions.

Jesus looked around and said to his disciples,
“How hard it is for those who have wealth
to enter the Kingdom of God!”
The disciples were amazed at his words.
So Jesus again said to them in reply,
“Children, how hard it is to enter the Kingdom of God!
It is easier for a camel to pass through the eye of a needle
than for one who is rich to enter the Kingdom of God.”
They were exceedingly astonished and said among themselves,
“Then who can be saved?”
Jesus looked at them and said,
“For men it is impossible, but not for God.
All things are possible for God.”

The Gospel of The Lord.

Jesus looked at him, loved him and…. Young men went away sad…

-What about me? When I am usually sad?

-When people disappoint me, cheat on me, lie to me, don’t keep their promises..

There are a lot of occasions that we become sad because of interactions with other people.

See that it is quite different when we approach God.

We don’t go away sad because he offends us. We go away sad because he loves us more than we want. More than we are ready to be loved and to love.

This young men from the Gospel, he thought that he is doing quite well, and yes, indeed, he was doing well.

But Jesus had much more for him.

He looks at him with love. He sees capacities of his heart.

He sees possibilities of holiness, joy, service and much more to happen in his life.. If he just accept invitation to love more, to go and sell everything..

Young men goes away sad. Not because Jesus offends him.

He goes away sad because he is not ready for such relation with God. He is not ready to love so much.

He is not ready to be loved so much.

This is something we need to pray about too

That we let God make our hearts open for his love and for his vision for us.

That we wont let OUR vision, our small plans, as big as they look however, stop us from accepting what God has for us.
