“But of that day or hour, no one knows,
neither the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father.” Mark 13:32
Jesus said to his disciples:
“In those days after that tribulation
the sun will be darkened,
and the moon will not give its light,
and the stars will be falling from the sky,
and the powers in the heavens will be shaken.
“And then they will see ‘the Son of Man coming in the clouds’
with great power and glory,
and then he will send out the angels
and gather his elect from the four winds,
from the end of the earth to the end of the sky.
“Learn a lesson from the fig tree.
When its branch becomes tender and sprouts leaves,
you know that summer is near.
In the same way, when you see these things happening,
know that he is near, at the gates.
Amen, I say to you,
this generation will not pass away
until all these things have taken place.
Heaven and earth will pass away,
but my words will not pass away.
“But of that day or hour, no one knows,
neither the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father.” Mark 13:24:32
Most of us enjoy watching practical jokes
See man ordering coffee and clerk taste it first…
We enjoy Laughing at how people get surprised and shocked
but most of us don’t like being surprised..
Jesus says :
Of that day or hour no one knows, only Father!
And St Paul makes it stronger:
Day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night! 1 Tes 5
We will be surprised when the Lord will come. And it might be sad surprise as when somebody try to gets to our house…
What’s gonna make a difference between good surprise and bad surprise?
If someone would tell people about practical joke coming, it wouldn’t be as disturbing as on videos, because they would be prepared for that
what preserves us from being terribly shocked when Lord comes? From having Bad surprise?
Is no just about living as we are expected him to come
But living as he is here now
Live in such a way that those who know you but don’t know God will come to know God because they know you.”
Do I live every day as Jesus is truly with me already?
Do we live in the presence of Jesus? As he is with us?
If yes, than when he comes in glory, then yes, we might be shocked but it won’t be bad surprise, because I’m living in his glory, I’m living in light, in his presence!
St Paul gives us clue about how to be prepared better for that day:
Therefore, encourage one another and build one another up as in deed you do
It is one thing to live in presence of Jesus
But it is another to do it to people around me. Treat them as Christ is in them.
Whatever you do to the little one you do to me!
How do I treat people around me?
Do I intentionally build people up?
Do I encourage them or turn them down? And leave them alone?
We are called to to live in the presence of Jesus Christ
but also to see him in another, so I become source of encouragement, that your words, actions, build people up
and easily we say negative words to people in work, to our friends, children, spouse,
how easily we critic others…
how difficult sometimes is tell good word..
Therefore, encourage one another and build one another up as in deed you do
It doesn’t seems to be a lot. But it is.
It would like it to be our challenge for this week. One of the ways to be better prepared for Lords coming.
That we will build others up. Say the words of encouragement.
See more goodness in people around us.
Jesus would do that same to us. We need to do it to others.
