Jesus tells his disciples to go and take some rest. They are so busy that they don’t have even time to eat.
Do they go only to get something to eat, get some physical rest?
What about spiritual rest? do they need to after doing so many miracles, healing, helping the poor and preaching Good News?
Jesus knows our needs, both physical and spiritual.
We know it well that we need in our daily life time space for rest, nap, hobby, exercises
Do we take enough care for spiritual rest? When do we let our souls rest? well, when we pray! Even if prayer is often something difficult: we try to stay focused, not to fall asleep.. prayer is still space when our souls are resting- because they are before God- Creator, source of our existence.
The apostles gathered together with Jesus
and reported all they had done and taught.
He said to them,
“Come away by yourselves to a deserted place and rest a while.”
People were coming and going in great numbers,
and they had no opportunity even to eat.
So they went off in the boat by themselves to a deserted place.
People saw them leaving and many came to know about it.
They hastened there on foot from all the towns
and arrived at the place before them.
When he disembarked and saw the vast crowd,
his heart was moved with pity for them,
for they were like sheep without a shepherd;
and he began to teach them many things.
