Lost Son from the Gospel and Lost things in me. 26 Sunday A

Draft of my Homily:

First Son is the good one.

We don’t need to talk about him this time , because he sees his fault , shame and changes his mind.

What I’m concerned a bout is the 2^nd son.

He is the lost sheep. He is the one in trouble. To him Jesus addresses this parable.

Jesus said to the chief priests and elders of the people:
“What is your opinion?
A man had two sons.
He came to the first and said,
‘Son, go out and work in the vineyard today.’
He said in reply, ‘I will not,’
but afterwards changed his mind and went.
The man came to the other son and gave the same order.
He said in reply, ‘Yes, sir, ‘but did not go.
Which of the two did his father’s will?” Mt 21

Do you want walk for me today to meet second son in you?

If not, just don’t listen. If yes, this wont be easy walk, I’m sorry.

I may do some exaggeration just to help us find ourselves there.

2nd son says yes but don’t really believe; don’t really listen to his father.

Even more, he is not interested in understanding of fathers will and being obedient

Why does He says yes?

I would say that he wants save his face, make good impression,

More, we can risk statement that he is afraid of his father

He doesn’t call him Father, he call him SIR,

Probably he doesn’t believe In his father good intentions, motives,

he event doesn’t thing that his father is good Father.

When we are second son?

1 st Level: Me and God:

Anytime we publicly say yes to gods comments,

we say yes I’m Christian, yes I’m church goers…

But Privately we don’t agree with many issues, We know better,

And we can have such relation with God all our life

because of public pressure , or any pressure…

This is not the best place to be.

There is a lot of dilemmas and never ending struggles

About how to make good impression, save face,

not to be discovered in the matters I don’t agree , don’t fallow,

don’t do or do that I know are wrong

This is not how we are destined to live . This is not peaceful place

We can learn how to play the game with your family, friends, even God,

but it is still only game.

And I know people who play such games every day.. and how painful it is

2 level: me and my job, ministry, family:

Whatever good and noble we do, there is huge risk that we may become so sure about our self,

our righteousness, knowledge, wisdom, right insight, our experience

that we quit asking ourselves : is it really good what I do, how do I behave,

How do I treat others, how do I do my ministry

Why I don’t talk to somebody or why I have war with somebody,

It’s all about me me me

Family broken, ministry , job destroyed, children abused

But it’s not my fault. I’m the good one. I always was..

We too need with Jesus help face this second son in us

Go to confessional and ask for forgiveness.

Forgiveness which is waiting for you.

Than we can celebrate. Because gospel became living word in you

And brought you back to life about of darkness of your pride, blindness, righteousness
