Here I am Lord. Send Me!

send good

….“Master, we have worked hard all night and have caught nothing,
but at your command I will lower the nets.”…

From the Gospel according to Luke:

While the crowd was pressing in on Jesus and listening
to the word of God,
he was standing by the Lake of Gennesaret.
He saw two boats there alongside the lake;
the fishermen had disembarked and were washing their nets.
Getting into one of the boats, the one belonging to Simon,
he asked him to put out a short distance from the shore.
Then he sat down and taught the crowds from the boat.
After he had finished speaking, he said to Simon,
“Put out into deep water and lower your nets for a catch.”
Simon said in reply,
“Master, we have worked hard all night and have caught nothing,
but at your command I will lower the nets.”
When they had done this, they caught a great number of fish
and their nets were tearing.
They signaled to their partners in the other boat
to come to help them.
They came and filled both boats
so that the boats were in danger of sinking.
When Simon Peter saw this, he fell at the knees of Jesus and said,
“Depart from me, Lord, for I am a sinful man.”
For astonishment at the catch of fish they had made seized him
and all those with him,
and likewise James and John, the sons of Zebedee,
who were partners of Simon.
Jesus said to Simon, “Do not be afraid;
from now on you will be catching men.”
When they brought their boats to the shore,
they left everything and followed him. Luke 5:1-11

Peter answer positively to Jesus challenge, despite the fact that this is not right time for fishing

Encounter with Jesus leads him to see as he really is- “I am a sinful men”

But Jesus docent focus on his sinfulness, despite it he calls him to fallow him

Similarly God calls us to fallow him despite our unworthiness, sinfulness, lack of virtues that are needed to be good example to others

It is an illusion to say

” I’ll be more involved into life of my parish after I got better with fighting my sins…

No.. It doesn’t work that way,

Jesus calls us as sinful as we are because he sees what we are called to be. What we are meant to be:

His friends, his disciples , his followers, light of this word

We are made worthy followers simply because God calls

If we don’t answer God’s call just because we don’t see ourselves fitting to do it then also we don’t let ourselves grow

We don’t grow if we are not challenged.

Maybe there is something you feel called to do for this church, this parish, or school, or other ministry

But you don’t do it because of fear of failure, unworthiness, sin in your life or all your imperfections

Maybe this is the time to reconsider it again

To put into deep water

It is good to see that we are unworthy to do something but we cannot stop there.

Jesus says : my grace will be sufficient for you!

As you see God doesn’t give up on us

Even more.

Despite our sinfulness He calls us to share in his holiness

and in mission that comes from it

To put into deep Water. To be his missionaries, his disciples

If Isaiah was cleansed by touch of ember:

…He touched my mouth with it, and said,
“See, now that this has touched your lips,
your wickedness is removed, your sin purged.”

Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying,
“Whom shall I send? Who will go for us?”
“Here I am,” I said; “send me!”…. Is 6:5-8

So how much more we are cleansed, strengthen, renew and sanctified by consuming body and blood of our lord

Isaiah said ” here I am. send me!

And what do we say?

Lord I don’t have time…

Lord I have bills to pay I cannot go for this mission trip, I cannot these people in need

I’m afraid lord , I cannot do it..

I’m a sinner Lord, I cannot do it

I’m not enough for that Lord, I cannot do it

I’m to young Lord, I cannot do it

I’m to old lord, I cannot do it

.. The correct answer is here I am . Send me.
